Unsuccessful Try and Double Foul part 1
This clip inspired the 2025-26 Men’s NCAA rules quiz below.
Offensive player A1 releases the ball on an unsuccessful try for goal that does not hit the rim with 24 seconds on the shot clock. Defender B1 jumps from A to B causing illegal contact and A1 pulls B1 to the ground. The official calls a double foul on A1 and B1. This is the 7th team foul on Team A and 7th team foul on Team B and the alternating possession arrow favors Team A.
1) A1 shall shoot 2 free throws after being fouled on an unsuccessful try. True/False/I don’t know
2) B1 shall shoot bonus free throws. T/F/IDK
3) The ball is awarded to Team A by the alternating possession procedure for a designated spot throw-in nearest to where the ball was (choose one):
a) when the try was missed
or
b) where the foul occurred
4) The shot clock should be reset to 20. T/F/IDK
The same scenario as above, except the ball does hit the rim.
5) The shot clock should be reset to 20. T/F/IDK
